So after another altercation between Russell Westbrook and a Utah Jazz fan it is becoming more apparent the Jazz have a lot of racist fans. This may be a surprise to some people but not to me. I know people from Utah (sick brag) and they are definitely all at least a little bit racist. Over the years I have noticed other albeit smaller altercations between fans and players in Utah. The people of Utah put forth a front that they are these good wholesome Mormons but really they’re a buncha racist assholes. We’re talking about the same people who chanted “Cancer” at Derek Fisher after his daughter was diagnosed with cancer. So fuck Utah, their racist fans and their ridiculous laws about weed and alcohol. Now let’s start the list with the most Racist fans/teams in the NBA;
- Utah Jazz
I mean I already kinda went over them. But I listened to this guy’s interview one more time and at one point he says everyone around will corroborate his lie of a story. Racists stick together so that makes sense.
2. Minnesota Timberwolves
3. LA Lakers
You can’t forget about how a Lakers fan spray painted a racial slur on LeBron’s LA house before he played for the Lakers.
4. LA Clippers
The only NBA team to pay a known racist $2 billion.
5. Indiana Pacers
After famed pizza-maker Papa John was caught using the N-word on a conference call, the Pacers made the heroic decision to stick with Papa Johns.
6 Phoenix Suns
The Suns employe a gorilla mascot even after a grievance was filed by the player’s association saying it is racist.
7. New York Knicks
Until recently, the Knicks fans have the treat of watching incredibly star-studded teams year in and year out. Who can forget the days of Stephon Marbury, Zach Randolph, Nate Robinson, Amare Stoudemire, Eddy Curry, Renaldo Balkman and of course Carmelo Anthony. But the Garden was the loudest when Jeremy Lin was around. Also there is this footage of the Knicks security taking out one of their black fans. I will exclude John McEnroe from this statement as you can tell he was disgusted.
8. Cleveland Cavaliers
After the Warriors defeated the Cavs in the finals they declined to go to the White House. Instead they were vistited by Cavs owner Dan Gilbert. Around the same time LeBron said the letter Gilbert wrote following the decision was racially charged.
9 Milwaukee Bucks
It is no secret that Milwaukee is the most segregated city in America. This has led to incidents like Bucks player Sterling Brown being tased and arrested due to a parking violation.
10. OKC Thunder
The Thunder had the audacity to deny Lil Wayne court-side seats to a game that was already sold out. Shameful on their part
11 Memphis Grizzlies
This is the team that fired David Fizdale just a few months after he spoke up in opposition of racist monuments in the city.
12 Dallas Mavericks
Lost in the news of their sexual harassment scandal was their reported “toxic racial environment“.
13 San Antonio Spurs
This is the natural reaction of a Spurs fan that is caught being racist and homophobic.
14. Washington Wizards
Colin Cowherd is Washington’s most vocal fan. Being born in Washington, and going to college at Eastern Washington he speaks for all of Washington sports fans. He has made a name for himself with takes like “John Wall won’t be good because he dances has tattoos and his dad is dead” (paraphrasing of course)
15 Detroit Pistons
Now that we are halfway through let me remind you that the rest of the teams and their fans on the list are the least racist half.
16 Philadelphia 76ers
This is more Philly fans in general who are noted scumbags. They throw snowballs at Santa but they cheer for Riley Cooper.
17 Sacramento Kings
Long before Brad and Chad (pictured above) were granted court-side seats to the Kings game, they were proudly giving away T-shirts with a monkey on the front. On the first day of Black History Month no less. Reports that said it had to do with the Chinese New Year being the year of the Monkey are false. H/T Demarcus Cousins
18 Charlotte Hornets
Never forget when former Hornets owner George Shinn warned Dell Curry about the perils of interracial marriage (even though his wife is black) right after he drafted him.
19 Portland Trail Blazers
The fans in Portland are quick to forgive Tonya Harding after her assault on Nancy Kerrigan yet Rasheed Wallace and the rest of the Jail Blazers are still vilified throughout the city.
20 Denver Nuggets
These are the fans who ran Carmelo Anthony and Allen Iverson out of town during the prime of their careers. Then waited for a white superstar to take them back to the playoffs. In between they put up these “white pride” hats for sale.
21 Atlanta Hawks
The Hawks have a history of racist ownership. This comes along a lawsuit alleging that white celebrities are treated differently than black celebrities when attending Hawks games.
22 New Orleans Pelicans
The Hawks fired GM Danny Ferry after his racist remarks about Luol Deng came to light. He quickly hired by the Pelicans and serves as their GM today.
23 Toronto Raptors
The picture above was taken in 2012. The Raptors had a record of 9-21 at the time and only sold out one game this season. This is also known as the Linsanity game. The Raptors fans were uninterested in watching Demar Derozan but more interested once a non-white superstar came to their arena. Later the Raptors team would make a statement that they were marketing a “certain kind of blackness as entertainment“.
24 Brooklyn Nets
25 Houston Rockets
Who can forget the fan asking Ayesha Curry how it feels to be punched in the gut after bumping into her pregnant belly and then the fans who then sullied her restaurant’s yelp reviews for no other reason than they were JEALOUS that California BBQ is better than Houston.
26 Chicago Bulls
Long before Colin Kaepernick spoke out about racial inequality, Craig Hodges did the same. This included bringing his questions to President George H. Bush in the white house after the Bulls won the NBA Championship. Hodges famously wore a dashiki to the event. He wound up never playing in the NBA again.
27 / 28 Miami Heat / Orlando Magic
Neither one of these teams have enough fans to be considered racist.
29 Golden State Warriors
I’m just gonna say Oakland’s fans aren’t racist so I don’t end up getting stabbed.
30 Boston Celtics
DUHH. Boston is a decorated city that has never had any issues with racism. This includes the Celtics drafting Chuck Cooper, the first black player into the NBA. Boston also had the NHLs first black player, Willie O’Ree. If there is any city that preaches diversity it is Boston. Perhaps no other city has had such a clean track record towards racism. Boston has always celebrated their diversity and still continues to today. At every Boston sports event you will hear songs played throughout the arena like, “Welcome to the Jungle” by Guns N Roses, “In the Air Tonight” by Phil Collins, “Hells Bells” by AC/DC, “Your Love” by the Outfield and “Crazy Train” by Black Sabbath. These 80’s era rock songs that are performed by all white people show Boson’s willingness to continue to push these diverse music selections. Despite the songs being liked by none of their current players, Boston teams continue to play these songs as a testament to the cities reputation for diversity.
