I know I am really cold right now. I can not remember the last time I won an NBA bet. That all ends tonight. I have a few picks that will turn that around tonight.
The first game is Hornets @ Pacers -5. The Pacers have been on fire, winning their last 5 games. That brings their record to 5-4 without Victor Oladipo. They are in the middle of a six game home stand and have Milwaukee coming up next. The Bucks have the most wins in the league and the Pacers will be looking to prove they still belong in the conversation with them. This makes tonight the perfect spot for a letdown. These teams have played each other twice before with the home team winning each contest but I think that will stop tonight. Monday nights do not draw the same kind of crowds a game later in the week would, especially in a blue collar city like Indiana. The people of Indiana are getting back to work on Monday night and many do not have time to go to a basketball game. Without Victor Oladipo it will be hard for the Pacers to stop, slow down or keep pace with Kemba Walker. I’m taking the Hornets +5.
The next game is the Knicks @ Cavs -1.5. This one is easy. It’s the Knicks. The line is so low because the Knicks since they are on a 16 game losing streak. But they are a much better collection of talent than the Cavs are. They were able to keep their last game with Toronto close and I see them closing the deal tonight and getting a win that has eluded them lately. Plus like I said about the game above, the home court will not matter much. It’s Monday night in Cleveland and LeBron isn’t there anymore. Those crowds were always pretty pathetic anyways. As soon as the Cavs fall behind they stop cheering. That will happen tonight too as the Knicks should run away with this one. The Cavs are terrible. The Knicks have been too but they are learning how to play together and I see them pulling out the win tonight.
My last pick is on the final game of the night Heat @ Nuggets -9.5. This game comes down to one thing for me. The Heat are playing their second half of a back to back in an area with high elevation. Also the team they played last night was the Golden State Warriors. They lost the game by only 2 points, covering as 14 point underdogs. The Warriors are the two time defending NBA champions and the benchmark to where every team is measured. Teams always try to play their best against the Warriors and often fall flat in the following game. That is what I see happening here. The Nuggets are coming off a 3 game losing streak on the road and will be looking to right the ship tonight. They have the perfect opportunity tonight against a team they have beat once this season already. Combined with the factors of the Heat’s recent game and travel and the Nuggets should run away with this one.
