The Rams and Saints are getting ready to kick their game off shortly. These teams have already played once with the Saints getting a 10 point victory. The media has made Marcus Peters comments towards Sean Payton after the loss a focal point of this game. This is because Michael Thomas beat Peters for a late touchdown pass in that last game. The media has talked up Michael Thomas and made it seem like these two players will be matching up again this week. They won’t be and that will be the biggest difference in the game. Aqib Talib was hurt in the first game and he will be playing today. In my opinion he is one of the best cornerbacks in the game. He has great length and athleticism on top of knowing the game well and having a good feel for the game. He makes big plays and has a knack for the end-zone with 10 interceptions returned for a TD in his career. Only Charles Woodson, Darren Sharper and Rod Woodson have more. This game reminds me of week 6 in 2013 when the Saints went to Foxboro to play the Patriots. At that time Jimmy Graham had been unstoppable to start the season. Aqib Talib lined up on him and held him to 0 catches. Having Talib on Thomas today will definitely disrupt some of the Sants offensive timing.
On the Saints defensive side the loss of Sheldon Rankins will be huge. Especially against the Rams who have one of the best offensive lines in football. I don’t think this game will be like the last one. I see the Rams getting the win here.
