The Philadelphia 76ers are putting their perfect home record on the line tonight with the Charlotte Hornets coming to town. They are favored by 6 points and I think that is too many. I see a lot of value betting Charlotte here and I will tell you why.
The Hornets are coming off a 2 game home win streak where they have played very well. This is their first game of a 3 game road trip so they should be well rested and focused. The 76ers just got back from a 3 game road trip and this will be their first home game. They have played once in Philadelphia this year with the 76ers winning a close game 105-103. They were favored by 6 in that game as well. Right now, only one game separates these two teams in the standings. They are both very close statistically and I would give a slight edge there to the Hornets. What the Hornets do not have is star power and a big market. The 76ers are led by Joel Embiid and Ben Simmons. The Hornets have Kemba Walker but he does not get the same attention the Philly stars get. The Hornets have also missed the playoffs the last two seasons so they have not had much of the public’s attention. They are still a solid deep team with role players like Nic Batum, Marvin Williams and Tony Parker coming off the bench. Kemba Walker lives for the spotlight and he has it tonight in a nationally televised Friday night game. I think the Hornets become the first team to beat the 76ers at home.
