NFC West First Half Recap

Preseason picks come from my NFC West Pre-Season Betting Preview:

Cardinals over 5.5 wins -200

Cardinals make playoffs YES +450

Cardinals Win NFC West +1600

So to start off, these picks have been off. The Cardinals have only 2 wins so far, both coming against the 49ers. The Cardinals have struggled as well, especially offensively. They have scored more than 18 points only one time this year. Despite their offensive struggles, their defense has played very well and is ranked 9th in overall efficiency. The main issue for their defense this year has been staying on the field too long since their offense has been unable to put drives together. They are hopeful that their change to Byron Leftwich at offensive coordinator will spark their offensive production. The rest of their schedule is tough though, with remaining games against the Chiefs, Chargers, Packers and Rams. It will be really tough for them to get to 6 wins.

Seahawks Under 8 wins -125

A loss this past week to the Lions would have been great in securing this under. Now it will be close. The Seahawks remaining schedule is very tough. The 4 teams the Seahawks have wins against have a combined 9 wins through the first 8 weeks. So far their offense is ranked 18th in overall efficiency while facing the 18th toughest schedule of opposing defenses. On the other side their defense is ranked 2nd overall after facing the 14th toughest schedule of opposing offenses. Their next four games are against the Chargers, at the Rams, back home against the Packers and then at Carolina. These will tell more of the story of whether or not the Seahawks are for real. I can see them easily going 0-4 here making the push a more than likely possibility. Their schedule eases up to close out the season with their two games against the 49ers and home games against the Vikings Chiefs and Cardinals. I think 9-7 is a really strong possibility and this one looks to be tougher than I anticipated.
