The Browns (0-1-1) find themselves favored for the first time in their last 18 home games. They take on the Jets (1-1) who come in as 3 point underdogs. Both teams have looked pretty good defensively. The Browns were very close to winning both of their games but are riding a 19 game streak without a win into this game. There are locked fridges in bars around the city with free beer that can only be opened when the Browns win. These fridges are having cameras installed on top of them tonight. The public is heavy believers in the Browns winning tonight and they may be right.
The Jets come into this game playing their second short week game in a row since they played on Monday night on week 1. On that Monday night game they looked unstoppable against the Lions. Last week at home against the Dolphins they did not look so good. Now they are traveling to play a Browns team looking for their first win in their last 20 attempts. The Jets will be certainly be dealing with some fatigue in this game and their will already be without safety Marcus Maye. The Browns may try to exploit that with their deep passing game. I can see Antonio Calloway catching a deep pass in this game. If the Jets were playing at home on a Sunday the advantage may go to them but I can’t be on the Jets when you factor in the fatigue with their second straight game on a short week. Todd Bowles looked great when he had a lot of time to prepare against the Lions. He had less time to prepare for the Dolphins and now even less time this week against the Browns. I don’t think he can make magic happen with a rookie QB on the road again. This week I think Sam Darnold looks more like the Sam Darnold we thought we would see week 1.
The Browns have a good defense this year but it will be important to pay attention to the injury status of Damarious Randall. Their offense may also be without Jarvis Landry. If these two play then the Browns should easily win and cover. Either way I see the Browns covering this game late. Their defense has enough talent to shut down the Jets offense. I see this game starting slow. I think the Jets will play much better in the first half than in the second half. I think by that second half the fatigue and un-preparedness will set in and they will start to break down on both sides of the ball. This is the night Cleveland fans can finally celebrate. Take the Browns -3 and celebrate with them.
Cleveland Browns -3 (-125)
